Super High-End + Totally Free? (Help Me Figure This Out…)

Posted on May 17, 2013 | In Firepole Marketing Updates

Okay, maybe this is crazy, but here goes. A few days ago, I floated the idea of a running a massive, super-premium, totally free training, as my way of truly giving something back to our community. Well, the feedback that I received on that post was absolutely OVERWHELMING, so as much as it’s freaking me [...]

Heartbreak, Debilitating Fear, and the Craziest Risk We Might Never Take…

Posted on May 14, 2013 | In Firepole Marketing Updates

There’s a scratch on the back of my brain. It’s a thought that sits there, and niggles at me. It’s not always front-and-center, but it’s always there, reminding me that I’m forgetting something important, that I really should have done by now. For the world, for my audience, and for myself. And no matter what [...]

May’s Mini Best of the Web

Posted on May 11, 2013 | In Best of the Web

We have been so busy over here at Firepole Marketing that we only have a “mini” Best of the Web this month. That doesn’t mean it is any less valuable than our usual longer posts; we just firmly believe in quality over quantity, and the quality of some of the posts this month is outstanding. [...]

Questions for Guy Kawasaki, Jeff Goins, or me?

Posted on April 15, 2013 | In Firepole Marketing Updates

This post is going to  be short and sweet.

As you probably know, Guy Kawasaki, Jeff Goins and I are hosting a live training webinar on Thursday titled “Secrets of Great APEs: Authors, Publishers, and Entrepreneurs”, where we’re going to teach…

  • Real-life lessons learned from Guy, Jeff, and my writing and publishing experiences.
  • How to crowd-source a book: what to consider, and how to do it effectively.
  •  How to self-publish successfully, where you can save money and cut corners, and where you definitely cannot.
  •  Tactical advice from Guy Kawasaki, learned on the front-lines of writing and publishing APE.

And on top of the training, we’re also going to hang around quite a lot to answer questions.

Now, we’ll do our best to answer every question that gets asked, but realistically speaking, it’ll be hard to get to everyone (we’ve got 1,000 live seats on the call, and we expect them all to be filled) – so if you want to make sure your question gets answered, go ahead and leave it as a comment on this post.

So first, make sure to register and reserve your spot on the call.

And then leave a comment below, with any question that you’d like Guy Kawasaki, Jeff Goins or me to answer!

Blog Posts for Rainy Day Blues – Best of the Web

Posted on April 13, 2013 | In Best of the Web

It’s been just shy of a month since our last Best of the Web. Although this one is a little bit on the shorter side, we’ve found some great posts in the past month that we couldn’t wait to show you… so why bother waiting for a long list?

April has brought the expected drab weather (at least here in Montreal), but it gives us all the more reason to cozy up in a cafe and browse the web for some outstanding content.

On the menu today: Some great videos, questions requiring extensive discussion, how-to’s and an assortment of other interesting pieces. The perfect combination to brighten up this gloomy month!

Pulling the Plug on the Podcast?

Posted on March 20, 2013 | In Firepole Marketing Updates

You may be familiar with our Fireside Chats with Danny Iny Podcast series. We’ve run 9 of them so far, and have had a really good time putting them together – it’s been a good learning experience for us, and the content has (we think!) been solid. We’ve covered everything from webinars, to hiring, and [...]

Fun and Focused, Tips and Tricks – Best of the Web

Posted on March 16, 2013 | In Best of the Web

It’s that time of the month again…

…time to release another jam-packed Best of the Web. It seems like these things just keep getting longer and longer. There is so much valuable content out there right now that we can’t even include all the great things we see and hear.

This month we have a pretty wide range of articles from Gamification, to Self Publishing, Affiliate Marketing and the Audience Business Masterclass. Here at Firepole Marketing we have been spending a lot of time of all of these topics, and so has the rest of the web.

Its nice to see such a perfect alignment of content between ourselves and the web this month, I hope you make some of your own connections from these great articles…

Cautionary @PayPal Tale + Open Letter to @DavidMarcus

Posted on March 4, 2013 | In Firepole Marketing Updates

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve pulled back the curtain and shared the sordid details about everything that happened behind the scenes with our January launch.

I shared how massive success grew past the point of manageability, and turned into an excruciating sense of overwhelm.

And I shared all of the nitty-gritty details of the launch; what went right, what went wrong, and what we improved along the way.

I shared it all, and held nothing back. Except for one thing.

Along with all of the other ups and downs, there was one last thing that came very close to going very, very wrong – so much so that if things had gone the other way, we may not have even survived.

The source of this nearly existential challenge was PayPal.

For a while there, I thought they were going to shut us down…

Effective Mastermind Groups: Interview with Dov Gordon (Fireside Chat with Danny Iny)

Posted on February 20, 2013 | In Fireside Chats with Danny Iny

Okay, let’s face facts: no matter how smart, talented, or effective you are, it often helps to have a second, or third or fourth opinion.

Hence today’s Fireside Chat, all about mastermind groups.

This one’s special, though – instead of just me and Danny riffing on the subject, Danny interviewed Dov Gordon, the man who organized the mastermind group that Danny has been a part of for the past year and a half.

It’s a great interview, about everything that you need to know about putting together and maintaining an effective mastermind; what a mastermind group is, what are they good for, and what they *aren’t* good for, too…

Exhaustion, Retreat, and the Excruciating Reality of Succeeding Beyond Your Wildest Dreams

Posted on February 18, 2013 | In Firepole Marketing Updates

I blinked twice, and rubbed my eyes.

It was done.

I had just delivered the last webinar of our launch; the last of almost thirty webinars that I had delivered in about three weeks.

My day’s work wasn’t close to being over – there was still a mountain of emails to answer, tasks to complete, and loose ends to tie up. But before diving into all of that – before even getting up to make the cup of tea that would sustain me through it – I took a moment to observe and notice exactly what I was feeling.

It was the strangest sensation; a weird mix of elation and despair.

I never imagined that something so good could leave four people feeling so bad…
