Phew, what a year it’s been!

Posted on December 27, 2011 | In Firepole Marketing Updates

It’s been a whirlwind of a year.

There were some really great moments, like my wedding, and the launch of my new book.

There were also some rough moments, like losing out on the teaching position that I really wanted.

And there were some interesting moments, like when Eugene Farber dubbed me the Freddy Krueger of Blogging.

All in all, it’s been a great year, but I promise you one thing: next year will be better! :D

Have a great holiday, and we’ll see you in 2012!

Yes Danny, it has been a whirlwind year. Sorry to hear about the teaching job, but you do a very good job of teaching right through your posts. Therefore we wish you great success with your business going into 2012 and beyond. Keep up the great work and Happy New Year!

Thanks, friend. It’s okay – we all have setbacks from time to time, and I’m very happy with the way everything turned out in the end, and the opportunities that opened up for me as a result. I wish you the very best of everything in 2012!

No one in the blogosphere has impressed me more than you this year Danny. And when I say that, I’m not exaggerating.

Well done my friend,

Marcus

Thank you very, very much, Marcus. For your kind words, and for all your help and support along the way, too. I’m going to have to return the favor and say just how very impressed I’ve been with you since connecting with you almost a year ago, and how much I value your friendship. I wish you and your family the very best of everything in 2012, which you deserve more than anybody I know. :)

Well Danny, sometimes you win and sometimes not, the only thing that really matters is if at the end you win or you surrender because even losses are just ways of not winning. Someone really loses only when surrenders. From what I’ve understood at the end of 2011 you’re a winner right? :)

And 2012 will be surely at least as good but probably better, Happy Holidays!

Surely as good and probably better ;)

This is half-tongue-in-cheek and half not, but:

Interesting point Jason, something to think of. :)

Yeah, the quote got me thinking too, for sure :) Happy Holidays to you too, Andrea!

Very well put, hypnodude, and you’re right – I’m definitely still stepping up to the plate, so I guess that makes me a winner! :)

It’s been a great year…and it’s not over yet!

In my experience, it can be tough to come out from under the holiday feast induced food comas and get back on track. But making that final push this week, calling some of your clients to see what they need (and reminding them that time is almost up to save on their taxes by buying some needed design, consulting, etc) is a great way to grab one last paycheck and get a great start to the new year.

Budgets often get “reset” on the first of the year, so get in front of existing clients and remind them of how awesome you are, get out from under the holiday haze and have a killer start to 2012!

That’s really great advice, Mike, thank you so much for sharing it here with our readers. Actually, I think you could take this and expand it into a full blown submission to our “marketing that works” ideas contest – interested?

I would love to. Thank you for the offer.

Where can I find more information on how to make a submission?

I declared my new year started October 1st. That’s when all the good stuff started happening. So my year so far has been amazing! The best thing you can do is swallow the lows and move on to swing on the highs. And it sounds like over all you did pretty good!
Happy New Year!

It sure was a crazy year, Danny.

I had far more “challenges” than wanted and not as much progress as I’d hoped.

I join you in looking forward to better times in 2012.

Thanks for the e-book. I will definitely be taking a look at it this week.

We all have those years, Doreen, but next year (this year) will be better. Let’s make it happen together. :)
